Eczema’s Examiner – Lavandin Oil

Jerry mouse just made the life of Tom cat a lot tougher…he still continues to…Likewise the life of certain things/people is always infested with something that makes life for them a lot tougher…Okay I agree…this was the lamest reference and explanation possible…But please bear with me…I hope you got the link…

What I meant  to say was that if there are certain things to pester us then there are others to bail us from the pestering…Lavandin oil is one such bailing element from the pestering and pathetic Eczema…

Before anything understand the condition Eczema in detail…

This word Eczema basically comes from two Greek words… ‘ek’ meaning out…and ‘zema’ meaning boils….Basically eczema…which is also called dermatitis…is a medical condition wherein the skin swells….The discomfort and pain arising from the small blisters of the skin makes it feel as if it is boiling…

Eczema is a hypersensitivity reaction…it is not considered a disease and it is not contagious….Its just that the skin gets more reactive to anything that touches it and hence…it easily itches….Itching will make you scratch so flare-ups will be triggered…Also…one might feel uncomfortable in the presence of water….Also quite a lot many people that have this condition and use rubber gloves when washing dishes or doing other daily activities….Its an extremely hygienic thing to do…draw inspiration…

As a matter of fact..there is no discrimination as far as advent of this disease is concerned….Both children and adults may contract eczema…but it usually occurs in infants…The cause of eczema is not yet known…but it often affects those having a family history of allergies….A lot of people suffering from eczema have asthma or allergic rhinitis…or have relatives who do….

And even according to the National Institute of Health…approximately 15 million people have eczema in the United States alone….Around 10 to 20 percent of babies have eczema…but the condition will greatly improve by the time they are 5 and 15 years old in nearly have of them…Others will continue to have the said condition for the rest of their lives….

Lavandin…The Examiner Of Eczema

Lavandin is basically a hybrid of true lavender and spike lavender…Lavandin is an easier crop to manufacture and it is-

  • Sharper
  •  Harsher
  • Contains far more camphor than true lavender

And it is even used in soaps…detergents…lotions….and hairspray as the aroma is more lasting than that of true lavender…

To add on to the faith….it is an age old herbal medicine and also the most known scent throughout the aromatic world… In aromatherapy…it is regarded as the most versatile essence….Lavender has the Latin name ‘Lavare’ that means “to wash”….Since ancient times…lavender oil has always been known for its healing powers….It has been used as a natural

  • Antiseptic
  • An anti-depressant
  • An antibiotic
  • A sedative
  • A detoxifier

Its surprising to know that even the ancient Greeks used this oil to treat throat infections…constipation and chest conditions while the Romans used lavender flower heads in communal baths…Although lavender oil has numerous applications but its most beneficial use is in the treatment of skin disorders where it has been shown to be highly effective…

Conditions like Eczema which can be treated well due to its anti-inflammatory effect…It gives its best effect when added with chamomile….Also… it can be used with cold compresses as well…

Throbbing Head…No More! – Hail Lavandin Oil

Nothing is more incapacitating than a severe head-ache…

Students are unable to give exams if they have one…

Even the yummiest dessert will fail to salivate you…because of this headache…

Basically…Allergies…stress…and sickness can all cause a headache. …You may also suffer from migraine headaches which are caused by vascular causes such as constricted blood vessels in the head….which are unbearably painful…seriously…

Headaches are as varied as ice-cream flavours (just that they aren’t a ‘sweet’ experience)….The headache pain can be mild…or intense and throbbing….The pain can also either be localized to one region or felt all over the head…..Pain can also be accompanied by nausea and sensory sensitivities such as smell.
Tight muscles of the head and neck region along with stress can cause and intensify a headache….
We have found that a combination of several different essential oils works best to ease the pain of any darn headache…

And even ease the congestion that causes the pain…especially this Lavandin oil…Either inhale directly from a tissue…cotton ball… better yet….nasal inhaler….dilute in carrier oil of your choice and massage onto sinus areas…Be
very careful NOT to get any in your eyes!

The premier oil for Tension Headaches is our old standby Lavender Essential Oil….Massage a drop into each temple and one on the back of your neck…..Doing other things…like a restful warm bath…lying down with a cold pack on your forehead will help…but often life doesn’t allow the opportunity to tackle the stress directly…At least the
Lavender will relieve this symptom of stress…

The neat or internal use of essential oils…is usually not recommended….A known  French mentor swears by a single drop of Lavandin Super on a sugar cube to banish an existing Migraine….Please be very sure of the specific variety of Lavandin you are purchasing…there are several different Lavandin varieties available…and the others will not help in this case… This is especially effective with Migraines that either stem from digestive difficulties or cause digestion problems…It seems to work first on the digestion…and then
remove the Migraine…

Forget Dermatitis…Remember Lavandin Oil

I had this sister who was so fair and beautiful…that even if she applied plain kohl…it would look like there has been a contrast drawn…a black line…to highlight her eyes…but like we say…not all the 5 fingers measure the same…she had this terrible problem of developing ugly skin rashes…even after using the finest of cosmetics..

It was me who…though sceptic…suggested her to use Lavandin oil…And till date she blesses me on seeing my face…

But before I pitch you…Understand the condition of this skin rashes and sores…The simple definition of dermatitis is inflammation of the skin…Many people think of dermatitis like eczema but this is not the case at all…Almost any rash can be thought of as a dermatitis based on this definition including Psoriasis…skin cancer etc…However…Not  every rash is a dermatitis…

To make you clear…I’ll explain as to what it exactly looks like….Basically…the rash of dermatitis is itchy…red…and may or may not have distinct margins….The specific look of the rash depends on the amount of time it has been present….If acute then the dermatitis will have blisters….Though sub acute dermatitis has scaling and crusting or say scabs….and chronic dermatitis has lichens…

Lavandin To Rescue

One refuge you can avail is Lavandin oil…Just to inform you….Lavandin oil smells a lot like the sweet Lavender oil we all know but has a bit more sharper note to its fragrance…. Because of this it is used to relieve muscle aches and pains….ease congestion and sinus problems as well as used topically to treat skin wounds and dermatitis…

You should know that the therapeutic properties of lavandin oil are-

  • Antidepressant
  • Antiseptic
  • Analgesic cicatrisant
  • Expectorant
  • Nervine
  • Nulnerary

Other feathers added to Lavandin’s cap are that Lavandin oil can be useful in cases of muscle stiffness and aches and pains…It eases the lungs and helps with coughs…colds and flu…

I’ll elaborate to convince you the way I am convinced with this liquid…

Essential Oil of Lavandin has certain compounds which contribute to its anti septic properties….By virtue of this property…Lavandin Oil can protect wounds from being septic…It is found effective in preventing incisions from being septic or getting infected from tetanus…particularly after surgery…caesarian deliveries and other wounds…

Okay..now….Analgesic simply means an agent that reduces pain and inflammation…Lavandin Essential Oil helps reduce pain in muscles…joints…toothache and headache…resulting from viral infections like

  • Cough & cold…
  • Influenza…
  • Fever…
  • Chicken pox …

Probably the most interesting property of Lavandin Oil is that it makes the scars and after marks of boils and acne and pox etc….on the skin to fade away….This includes fading away of stretch marks and surgery marks…fat cracks etc associated with pregnancy and delivery…

Then…Lavandin oil drives away cough and phlegm deposited in the respiratory tracts and lungs…Also gives relief in Bronchitis and congestion of nasal trac…larynx and pharynx…bronchi and lungs…It also gives relief from body pain…headache…toothache and rise in body temperature associated with cold….

Another agent in it is nervine…it keeps the nervous system in order and in good health…Lavandin Oil acts as a tonic for the nerves and the nervous system…It helps cure many nervous disorders such as shaking hands or limbs…nervousness…vertigo…Alzheimer’s disease…Parkinson’s disease and convulsions….sluggishnes….lack of reflexes et…It strengthens nerves and activates them…

Lavandin Essential Oil – Best Of Natural Oils

One leads an entire life believing what has been, since the very beginning, in front of his eyes…Oblivious to ‘real’ reality…Again, why should he dig into the ‘so-called-reality’ when his present makes happy, sated, and he feels that he could ask for nothing more…

But then…reality is mean, it likes to give surprises, and surprises the poor happy individual when, like always, he is engrossed in his surreal life…his ‘reality; shatters…breaks down to smithereens…and the individual?

Well…don’t ask about him…he now belongs nowhere…’his’ reality shattered and the ‘real’ reality is nowhere close to being accepted in one life…

You must be wondering what am I talking about, and why am I talking about it…Well…I just flowed in some private emotion, sorry about that, but again whatever I wrote is not completely irrelevant…

All these, that we have been considering scientifically sound and ‘harm-proof’…I mean the things we apply topically or consume internally to deal with our various external and internal woes…are ‘really’ that safe!

Where did they get their base from?

The ‘real’ healing mother nature…which had been protecting and flourishing lives since the times the humans knew nothing of science or technology or medicine…

It won’t be wrong to bestow the title of Father Medicine to oils like Lavandin!

The aroma and medicinal properties of Lavandin is quite similar to those of Lavender, but are more intense and sharp, since it is a hybrid. Lavandin Grand Essential Oil

I am sure all of you reading this blog are pretty aware of the fact that myriad essential oils are present on earth and many are the best one can get for various purposes…similarly lavandin essential oil too is used for many good purposes…

True lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is thought to be one of the most versatile essential oils used in aromatherapy.  The ancient Greeks used lavender to treat throat infections and to ease constipation;  European herbalists used lavender water to treat head lice.  Lavender was used in Medieval herb gardens and was known to be an ancient folk remedy.  Lavender was said to ‘comfort the stomach and the soul.’

Lavender stoechas (Lavandula stoechas) was named after the island of Hyeres which was actually called Stoechades by the Romans.  The ancient Romans were the probable users of this type of Lavender, using as a perfume for their baths.  Until the middle of the 18th Century, Lavender stoechas was used medicinally in –

  • England
  • France
  • Spain

It was used to dress wounds by country folk.

Spike lavender (Lavandula latifolia) was traditionally used for headaches, rheumatic pain, colic and dyspepsia, as indicated in the British Herbal Pharmacopoeia.  Nicholas Culpeper, an English herbalist, recommended spike lavender for fainting, malady and cramps too. Lavandin (Lavandula x intermedia) does not have a long history of use as it is basically a hybrid of true lavender and spike lavender; it first appeared in the early 1900s.

True lavender only grows at altitude of above 2,000 ft.  Native to the Mediterranean region, it has small purplish-blue flowers and is the most fragrant of the lavender scents.  Lavandin, on the other hand, is a hybrid and is generally found growing at the lower altitudes.  It has blue or gray-blue flowers and is a favorite in the perfumery industry due to its plentiful supply and low pricing.

Lavender stoechas is quite different to the true lavender flower in that it is short, spiky and less spectacular than the true plant.  It is a hardy herb which is found on sand and crystalline rocks on the European coastline, particularly in France.  It has purple-blue flowers in spring and summer.

Spike lavender grows at lower altitudes than true lavender and has a very high yield which means that it is a relatively cheap oil to produce.  Spike lavender is mainly grown in France and Spain for aromatherapy use.  It has gray-blue flowers and is evergreen.  It has broader and rougher leaves than true lavender.

Killing Creepy Moths – Lavandin Oil

My father’s awfully expensive wedding suit was ruined to rags…Thanks to those big old trunks in the house that held all the woollens and old clothes…didn’t let even a blow of air to pass through…causing moisture to develop…and letting moths to breathe in the process…

That’s not it…quickly read on this handy information about the devastating little creatures…

  • Caterpillars of clothes moths feed on wool, fur, feathers, shed pet hair and lint…They will not feed on cotton..silk or synthetic fibres but may feed on food left on clothes and while eating the food will eat holes in synthetic garments including plastics…
  • Freezing at 0 F for 72 hours or raising the temperature 110 F to 120 F for 30 minutes or maintaining humidity below 30% will kill moths and larva…
  • Clothes moths are uncommon in a dry climate….
  • It is the caterpillar stage of all clothes moths that damages clothing…
  • Moths are much less attracted to clothes that have been dry cleaned prior to storage…
  • Infested materials can be treated by temperature…or by fumigant insecticides…
  • Naphthalene or lavandin oil…But please try not to allow moth balls to come in direct contact with clothes fabric…separate with paper or other…
  • Tight-fitting containers can prevent infestation of clothes moths again…

To make your ears stand up….listen to this…

You know these female moths lay their eggs within one to three weeks after they emerge… Eggs are glued to woollen threads so that they are not easily dislodged…The eggs do not remain dormant for long periods…although hatching is delayed by cool temperatures…It is a myth that eggs can remain dormant for long periods and suddenly produce new infestations…imagine! Sounds so scary!

And the cherry on the cake! That caterpillar stage feeds on wool soon after egg hatch…Often they construct a silken tube and feed in the vicinity of this shelter…Other times the larvae may continue to move across the fabric and only produce scattered patches of silk on which it rests…

Articles to be stored should be cleaned and then packed in tight-fitting containers with moth balls or flakes containing or naphthalene or Lavandin oil…Though it will repel clothes moths or prevent them from laying eggs….but the vapours from these materials are lethal to clothes moths…but only when maintained at sufficient concentrations….In order to achieve these levels…the vapours must be tightly confined with the items you wish to protect…Effective concentrations can best be achieved by first sealing susceptible items in large plastic bags…and then storing the bagged articles in tight-fitting trunks…boxes or chests…Contrary to popular belief…(just an advise) because the seal is insufficient to maintain a lethal or repellent concentration of the volatile Lavandin oil….would do wonders…

Because of Lavandin’s quality of having an extremely sharp smell…and its anti-bacterial properties…it is the option for such pest infestations..
